Pregnancy can be pretty tough on our bodies. During this time of immense change, women often experience increased levels of discomfort and sometimes even pain. Prenatal massage can be incredibly beneficial in helping combat these annoying symptoms. Research shows massage therapy can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and even newborn health! Positioning pillows and bolsters are used to enhance support, decrease pressure and increase relaxation for both body, mind and baby.

Swedish massage is the most common and well-known type of massage. If you’ve never had a massage or you don't get massages often, Swedish massage is a great option. During this therapy session, your therapist will use soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints to relieve muscle tension. A Swedish massage is perfect for anyone who is over-worked and stressed for a relaxing and energizing experience!

Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage but your therapist will apply a slow, firm pressure to release muscle tension. The focus of this type of massage is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia. This kind of massage can help increase range of motion, reduce minor aches and pains and ease inflammation.

If you are a current physical therapy patient, we will work closely with your massage therapist to ensure your massage is tailored towards your rehabilitation goals. We strive to utilize a multidisciplinary treatment approach to help you achieve your goals faster and get you feeling your best!
