Childbirth Education

Private Childbirth Education— for You and Your Partner

A calm, confident birth starts with preparation that’s personal.
Our childbirth class is a one-on-one (or one-on-two with your partner) session led by a Doctor of Physical Therapy who is also a CAPPA-Certified Childbirth Educator. Instead of a crowded, one-size-fits-all class, you’ll get custom coaching that reflects your body, your preferences, and your birth setting—plus hands-on practice so you and your support person feel truly ready.

What makes our class different

  • Private & individualized. We tailor education and practice to your goals, medical history, and comfort level.

  • Partner-inclusive. Your support person learns exactly how to help—positions, counter-pressure, prompts, and timing.

  • Pelvic-floor informed. Prepare the pelvic floor, learn strategies to minimize tearing, and set up a smoother postpartum recovery.

  • Hands-on skill building. We don’t just talk—you’ll practice positions, pushing strategies, and comfort measures together.

What we cover (and customize to you)

  1. Third-trimester planning – birth preferences, hospital vs. birth center logistics, packing & timing

  2. Contractions, labor & comfort measures – breathwork, positions, counter-pressure, heat/cold, tools (ball, rebozo, peanut)

  3. Labor progression, pushing & birth – how labor typically unfolds, when to move/rest, pelvic-floor-friendly pushing options

  4. Recovery & feeding baby – the first 24–48 hours, perineal care, early lactation set-up

  5. Breastfeeding basics – latch, positioning, troubleshooting common challenges

  6. Cesarean birth – what to expect, anesthesia, partner roles, early recovery

  7. Care for baby – soothing, diapering, safe sleep, realistic rhythms

  8. Postpartum expectations for Mom – bleeding, pelvic floor healing, core support, when to seek help

You’ll leave with a simple action plan, a partner “cheat sheet,” and confidence in the skills you’ve practiced together.
