Dry Needling
Dry Needling has become a very popular type of treatment used to treat myofascial pain. Muscles sometimes develop “trigger points” which are discrete, focal, hyperirritable spots located in a taut band of skeletal muscle. The spots are painful on compression and can produce referred pain, referred tenderness, motor dysfunction, and autonomic phenomena.
Dry Needling can help address:
Joint problems
Disc problems
Tendinitis
Migraine and tension-type headaches
Jaw and mouth problems (such as temporomandibular joint disorders aka TMD)
Repetitive motion disorders (like carpal tunnel syndrome)
Spinal problems
Pelvic pain
Night cramps
Physical Therapists must have specific training in dry needling and most of our therapists have had years of experience.
